Since we started this thing grassroots--traveling around the U.S. playing living rooms, garages, barns, sleeping on the floors and sofas--I thought I'd write a lil note on how house concerts and playing alt-venues are the greatest things to happen to live music.
First off, they're how a lot of bands and even musical movements get started, from punk to folk to hip hop. Today, if you're lucky, you'll come across some serious music enthusiasts who are taking it to a whole new level, seeking out nationally and internationally touring acts to play small, intimate venues for affordable ticket prices. They cut out profit-seeking middle men, offer a completely unique, intimate experience in which you can actually interact with the music, and most importantly, they are organized based on a sheer passion for hearing live music.
Here is a recent article written by a genuine music lover about one of our favorites, Billsville House Concerts...Whose list of hosted artists is just downright impressive. Do read it.
IF you are a lucky soul who just so happens to live in the Northeast United States, catch a Billsville show. If you'll be in or around Rhode Island, check out Roots Hoot House Concerts. We'll be gracing the living room stage on March 1 and I CAN'T WAIT.
The boys and I will be back at the World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, HEADLINING a show presented by the wonderful WXPN. This is a small show (upstairs), so get your tickets while you can!

Pat and I've hit the road with HWA for their first three dates. Last night at the Bowery was stellar and we're stoked to be playing the next two dates with them tonight and tomorrow. They are KICKASS and our two sorry butts are honored to share the stage with them!

Our mini tour with illustrious poet-visual-arts-master Joseph Arthur, along with Bill DoBrow and Mike Mills from R.E.M., is halfway through and has been quite a pleasure for us lowly stragglers. The boys have been extremely kind and it's been our pleasure to open the show for them the past dates!
